A Great Place To Learn Intellectual Property Law
Garcia-Zamor provides a collaborative, professional, and welcoming environment in which to learn intellectual property law. Every person in our firm is considered a valuable team member. It is our goal that all of our student associates gain valuable and marketable skills to form a foundation for a career in intellectual property.
We take pride in our student associates and enjoy seeing them become full-time attorneys after graduation. It is our hope that the relationships created amongst student associates and with our attorneys remain throughout the years.
Mentoring Is Very Important To Us
The Garcia-Zamor attorneys take mentoring very seriously. Once a student associate joins our firm, it is our goal to make them a success. We do this by providing active feedback throughout the completion of each project.
While most of our student associates have engineering or scientific undergraduate degrees, we offer training and guidance, particularly at the beginning, to ensure that student associates possess the legal background knowledge they need to be successful.
Substantive Legal Assignments
We provide student associates with real-world experience through substantive work assignments and interactions with clients. Initially, our student associates focus mainly on patent prosecution, as this is a core legal skill. However, it is not uncommon for student associates to also work on:
- Legal research for litigation
- Business formation issues
- Trademark applications
- Contractual matters
- Meetings with client
While we cannot guarantee what portion of a student associate’s workload will be outside of patent prosecution, those who return to us for a second year typically work on a wider breadth of legal issues.
