Garcia-Zamor Intellectual Property Law, LLC

Our IP Law Philosophy

For more than fifteen years, the intellectual property law firm of Garcia-Zamor has served clients worldwide from its convenient location in the heart of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area. We grew our firm and earned our excellent reputation by consistently providing superior work product. Everything we do is completed by multiple IP law attorneys working in unison, because our entire team is Passionately Devoted to Your Success®.

Garcia-Zamor Intellectual Property Law, LLC assists clients of all sizes with their intellectual property and business law matters. Each intellectual property law attorney at Garcia-Zamor, strives to provide our clients with industry leading accessibility, quality, and experience.

Our founder, Ruy Garcia-Zamor, started Garcia-Zamor Intellectual Property Law, LLC more than a fifteen years ago after nine years of representing numerous clients, including electronics manufacturer Samsung. Mr. Garcia-Zamor envisioned a firm where clients are treated as partners rather than accounts; where each intellectual property law attorney in the firm is treated as team member rather than employee; and where teamwork and a singular dedication to clients yield superior results.

His vision led to the development of our collaborative process for handling every matter. We begin each representation with an initial consultation to discuss all potential intellectual property protections and to explain the processes for obtaining these rights. When authorized to prepare applications or any other documents or filings, our IP law attorneys consult with at least one other attorney to ensure that every matter is reviewed by multiple attorneys and that all feasible strategies are considered. This guarantees that every matter is given the maximum amount of attention by an intellectual property law attorney. We then update you regularly on the progress of your matters, explaining any changes and necessary actions to make sure you’re following along every step of the way.

Using this model, we now serve hundreds of clients in the United States and abroad, including clients in over thirty countries worldwide. We’ve watched some of our oldest clients grow and prosper, and we hope to do the same for you.

A complete intellectual property portfolio is like a set of golf clubs. Patents are like your irons, trademarks your woods, and other legal documents like your specialty clubs. You may be able to play a round with one or two clubs, but that would be a tremendous competitive disadvantage, especially when you’re up against players with a full set of clubs.

Our goal of each intellectual property attorney on our team is to offer advice and services to help you build a complete intellectual property portfolio. You may be starting with a single invention, idea, or brand, but these starting points can be gateways to numerous intellectual property protections. No business or invention can reach its full potential without making the best use of patents, trademarks, proper business entity formation, licensing agreements, employee agreements, NDAs, and more.

  • The Best Choice – An Intellectual Property Attorney from Garcia-Zamor is the best choice for helping you develop your complete intellectual property portfolio.

Mr. Garcia-Zamor patented a new shredder for my company. When a big box retailer started selling a similar shredder, the attorneys of Garcia-Zamor studied the competing product, prepared a cease and desist letter, filed a patent infringement lawsuit, and obtained a settlement with a royalty that benefited my business.

As CEO of a boat accessory company, the selection of IP counsel was crucial. After meeting the Garcia-Zamor team selecting them was the easy choice. They analyzed competitor patents to map out existing technology and to develop patent strategies for our products. Working with the Garcia-Zamor attorneys we developed an extensive patent portfolio which covers current and future product lines.
